- What is 50?
- A live webinar studio with a branded path on 50.co.za, a floating logo, a lower banner, chat, registration, and PayFast.
- How does go-live work?
- The room opens 30 minutes before start on a holding screen you write in admin. The host clicks Go live from that same branded page. Video runs on Jitsi Meet — free, open-source conferencing with camera, screen share and chat. No attendee account. You can still drop in a YouTube URL later if you prefer one-way broadcast.
- What video system do you use?
- Jitsi Meet — the best fully free option. Open source, no attendee accounts, camera, microphone and screen share in the branded 50 room. The public instance at meet.jit.si is wired in now; later you can point the same embed at a Jitsi you host on your VPS.
- Do attendees need an account?
- No. They register with name and email, receive a branded confirmation, and open the room from the link. Hosts and company admins sign in.
- Can platform admin browse without a profile?
- Public pages never require a profile. The first signed-in operator to open /platform can claim the admin desk. After that, only that account (on your VPS) is platform admin.
- Where does mail send from?
- Authenticated SMTP on port 465/587 through your existing Domains.co.za mailboxes. This preview queues mail so you can read it in platform admin before SMTP is connected.
- Is video transcoded on this VPS?
- Not on the 4 vCPU box next to Wits Plus Pulse. Live rooms embed Jitsi Meet (meet.jit.si, or your own Jitsi later). Production can point at a self-hosted Jitsi on the same VPS without changing the branded chrome.
